I’ve moved almost all of my meetings to video calls. This includes 1-on-1’s, project discussions at Product Hunt/AngelList, and founder meetings at Weekend Fund. The result: ~2x increase in productity. In-person meetings are only marginally better for most meetings.

I don’t. It’s subjective. The big issue is commute time.

I’ll take the other side of this debate! So much research shows the effect of non verbal communication beyond what can be conveyed on a video call. Also, video calls (even the beloved Zoom) generally introduce milliseconds of delay that stifle a natural back and forth.

Agree! But travel time to meetings is costly. It’s a trade off.

I also think scheduling is still an unsolved problem and too much time goes into it (either by parties themselves or their EAs which results in prioritizing challenges).

My absolute favorite.. no commute, no parking, around the globe etc. For catch ups, having a drink is like a fallback purpose, alleviating pressure of interaction. Too short, and it’s a wasted opportunity too

For what it's worth, we had success with Google video and Skype early on with 2-4, then http://appear.in  for 5-8 people. But had to level up to Zoom for 8+. We use Slack for 1on1's. This is with an international team.
