Sorry Ryan but I like hanging out with you in person at least 2.1x more than virtually so I win

Wanna grab coffee together next week? We can each make coffee at home, then do a zoom call.

-
Haha, lets do it! DM’ing.
-
I ALSO love digital coffee

How do you measure productivity?
-
I don’t. It’s subjective. The big issue is commute time.
-
Oh yeah, that's a big one. Good for you bringing that one down.

I’ll take the other side of this debate! So much research shows the effect of non verbal communication beyond what can be conveyed on a video call. Also, video calls (even the beloved Zoom) generally introduce milliseconds of delay that stifle a natural back and forth.
-
Agree! But travel time to meetings is costly. It’s a trade off.
-
I also think scheduling is still an unsolved problem and too much time goes into it (either by parties themselves or their EAs which results in prioritizing challenges).

Oh, like an FTC? :)
#FaceTimeCoffee -
Haha, yeah!

My absolute favorite.. no commute, no parking, around the globe etc. For catch ups, having a drink is like a fallback purpose, alleviating pressure of interaction. Too short, and it’s a wasted opportunity too

There should be virtual bars.
-
Love the serendipity factor, guess that’s kind of happening here.

Do you have any special set-up for this? (Or just Zoom on the laptop?)
-
Just zoom, slack calls, or google hangout
-
Do you see any difference in Qual regarding services you use?
-
+1. Which one do you prefer? I understand it depends on the audience. Still curious to hear your thoughts.

For what it's worth, we had success with Google video and Skype early on with 2-4, then http://appear.in for 5-8 people. But had to level up to Zoom for 8+. We use Slack for 1on1's. This is with an international team.
