    Ontario Chief MOH Dr. Moore said this week that selecting venues where vaccine passports are being mandated was based on "data". Since March 2020, 96,406 cases are from certain "outbreak settings". As of August 28, 0.7% of those cases were in recreational fitness facilities.

    Now Ontario's Windsor-Essex Health Unit invokes the Footloose Rule for fully-vaccinated vaccine passport-holding wedding attendees (but not the married couple) because science. Remember how we were told that vaccine passports would get us back to normal?

    Quite the take. In literally none of those examples is the state requiring you to undergo medical treatment when you may be unable to do so - medically or otherwise - as a condition of participation in any of those activities.

    I can’t believe they make me use roads to drive to the grocery store *and* stop my car when people are in front of it and I have to wear clothes when I go in to shop and I can’t even smoke a cigar in the checkout line. It’s so oppressive and an attack on my personal freedoms

    Ontario CMOH Dr. Moore yesterday defended not requiring staff at vaccine passport venues to show proof of status, relying on COVID mitigation protocols already in place (screening, etc.). So, again, forcing patrons to disclose status has nothing to do with reducing transmission.

    Among the highlights: you'll need to be vaxxed to dine indoors, but staff at bars and restaurants will NOT be required to be vaccinated (they will be "encouraged")

    Important to acknowledge what vaccine passports do/don't do. Vaccinated people are less likely to be infected & less likely to transmit (it lowers, but doesn't eliminate risk). Passports create safer indoor spaces. It's a helpful (but not the only) layer of protection.
