As for Midway, I think the lineage heads back to Infogrames, the publishers of Koudelka. Infogrames ended up inside Atari and I believe Midway snatched up a lot of stuff from them. XD Midway's past is a fascinating mess.

Also... it seems SNK's ties are there too? :S Through about three developer names leading back into Sacnoth, the developers. I wonder who even HAS the license rights to Shadow Hearts/Koudelka anymore. This is going to require a lot more research. XD

underrated games, the first and second one. Third one not so much (recently played it for the first time on stream) I really enjoyed the more macabre themes in the first one

It was so good. Great characters, unique setting, story and music and a good battle system (that was improved in the sequels). So sad this series is so unknown.

Just completed my 4th playthrough of this masterpiece and my love for it grows each time. This and Shadow Hearts: Covenant are easily my favorite PS2 games and top ten all time games for me.
