I have not read this paper nor think I would manage to wade through it. Do they attribute the thinning to anything in particular or is that up to further studies?

Fascinating. Zooplankton are a feature in the novel I’m writing. Think thinner shells equal less protection from predators like the Portuguese Man O‘War. (The book takes place in 2048; it’s not fully dystopian but there are many scary, weather-based events.
