She's 86 & wouldn't survive the flu if she got it. She has no fighting chance against COVID-19. I appreciate the kind words but I just hope she goes quickly & does not suffer. I really thought she was going to make it through to get the vaccine. I feel completely numb right now.

Update: My mom just called me crying. There are 37 cases at that nursing home now. The doctor says that my grandmother taken a downward spiral & is currently on oxygen. They are going to sedate her as much as possible but there isn't anything that they can do to help her.

To be clear: I don't blame the nursing home for this. They were one of the last in our province to get hit by COVID-19. I blame whoever wasn't wearing a mask near a nursing home worker- that had them unknowingly bring it to the nursing home as well as the Ontario government.

The Ontario government has failed it's people during the pandemic & should be ashamed for allowing things to run as rampant as they have. The province has needed to take more serious measures since October & our premier has continuously delayed taking any real action.

My grandmother is an avid gardener. Her backyard was her life's work. She's a Leo. She loves dogs & birds. She has a great sense of humor which is where I think my own sense of humor originated. She liked to hoard spoons. She's kind-hearted. She always had my back growing up.pic.twitter.com/2oXhDsrbKZ

I'm saying this to explain that she is a person. She has hobbies & interests. She has people who love her. And when you don't social distance or wear a mask, you risk harming more people like my grandmother. The virus is real. Please take every precaution to avoid harming others.

Too many think their actions don't affect others because they don't see the people they harm. My grandmother is a person that has been harmed by those who've chosen to deny the reality of the pandemic. All I can do is speak out in hopes that someone else's grandma can be saved.pic.twitter.com/GDbvuxtd1Q

Update: Her dementia has advanced rapidly because of the virus. She's stopped eating, drinking & is refusing IV fluids. So, it's a matter of time. They are giving her comfort measures. Thanks for the kind words but please just wear a mask so others don't have to hurt like this.

Update: I don't know which one of your prayers has been getting through but please keep it up. Things could still go either way but she's drinking & listening to the nurses now. My mom was able to talk to her over Zoom. She knows she is sick but said she's going to fight it.

Update: The doctor called. She's crashing. Her good day was something known as an end of life rally which is when someone becomes more stable temporarily before passing. Thank you all for the kind words. Wear a mask & social distance so that others don't have to go through this.
