@mjtsai No, it's to prevent bugs in the apps from being exploited and doing harm to other parts of the system.

@rosyna@mjtsai@ameaijou@drewthaler huh what, rosnya? Apple event targets are only blessed by bundle id known at build time. - View other replies

@Schwieb For MAS apps, yes. There's a non-MAS exception -
@rosyna where? -
@Schwieb Granted, they may not be suitable if you have an app that allows things inside (like macros/VBA) to extend functionality. -
@rosyna I’ve read that page many times. I don’t see entitlements that are disallowed in MAS. Anything can be approved with justification. -
@rosyna and I have empirical evidence for that. :) -
@Schwieb Oh, I am fully aware. I was going from the angle of "entitlements developers can use without ever contacting Apple". - Show more

@rosyna@ameaijou@drewthaler I don’t think the link that you posted offers blanket exceptions. Plus, those are temporary. - View other replies

@mjtsai@rosyna@ameaijou@drewthaler “temporary” in that Apple specifically says use them and file bugs for missing permanent things. -
@Schwieb@mjtsai@ameaijou@drewthaler That too, if there's no current way to narrow the focus with existing entitlements.
