Access to iCloud Drive by non-MAS apps may be more open than I previously thought. I’m intrigued.
@mmunz @mjtsai @danielpunkass File Coordination would still solve the problems it is meant to solve. But I don't think it is special-cased.

@rosyna@mmunz@danielpunkass So you're saying file coordination wouldn't know that a file/folder is pending, only when in progress? -
@mjtsai@mmunz@danielpunkass Yeah, I don't think it has been updated with much smarts for ubiquity-specific logic. -
@rosyna@mmunz@danielpunkass Too bad. At least with Dropbox you can tell from the menu bar whether it’s done. - View other replies

@mjtsai@mmunz@danielpunkass iCloud drive (whatever udb was renamed to in Yosemite) would still mark a file as busy during transfer. -
@rosyna@mmunz@danielpunkass Right, but you have to check each file's individual icon, and no support for packages. - View other replies

@mjtsai You can set the busy field on a folder. And Safari downloads in progress are packages. -
@rosyna I mean if you want to read a folder or package on iCloud Drive. Sounds like the daemon is not going to report the overall state. -
@mjtsai But when you read a folder on package on iCloud drive, you're just reading it from ~/Library/Mobile Documents/. - Show more

@rosyna@mmunz@danielpunkass In other words, there is no way to know that everything in a folder is in a consistent state? -
@mjtsai@mmunz@danielpunkass iCloud drive is still about ubiquitous documents (syncing) and not so much cloud storage. I'd love to be wrong
