if you mean phd students too, 🙋🏼‍♀️, although I think that’s more common in aus, esp. for those of us who were finishing school in the “widening participation” moment (uni entry schemes, etc....). nb: it being more common =/= having phd parents isn’t still a massive privilege.

Dunno if this question is silly or not, but can someone explain why/how (some?) mining companies get away with not paying corporate tax? Is it legal (if so, on what grounds?) or do they know they won’t be held to account? Article links are welcome/appreciated 🙏

like aesthetically it’s a glow-up but late-2009-me’s soul was so uncrushed, her eyes so undead. vale, hope, rest in power (or rise like lazarus in 2020) ❤️💔❤️💔❤️

I think Tamboukou nails it here: “Herein lies the force of narratives in grounding abstractions, operationalizing concepts and reconnecting philosophical ideas to politics and life, which was after all what both Luxemburg and Arendt strived to do through their life and work” 2/3

I often wonder why it is that I find myself so attracted to Arendt and Luxemburg’s respective thought and always find my way back to it... 1/3

"Luxemburg’s Now is Arendt’s timeless present, a site of struggle, but also a region par excellence for thinking and remembering: ‘The gap between past and future opens only in reflection [which] draws these absent ‘‘regions’’ into the mind’s presence...' (Arendt, 1981: 206)".
