Ppl are going to fuck up. Taking accountability is what sets doing the work apart from where we'd otherwise be. I appreciate your apology.

I think it's important that we model movement work from a honest place. Fucking up is part of it. What matters is if ppl learn and do better

Everyone who organizes was at some point ignorant of what they know now. No one has to fux w anyone else, but lingering on it is a waste IMO

POC? What did I miss..?
-
She made a comment comparing sexism to racism. It was insensitive to women of color who experience both. She apologized and deleted it.
-
Some WOC took offense, but I did not. As a WOC, I think her analogy was raw and powerful. Sexism should be taken as seriously as racism
-
So why isn't it by WHITE WOMEN? That is where I'm confused.
-
I guess for the same reason sexism isn't taken as seriously as racism by black men...

As a woman of color the fight of being heard is a battle. We all make mistakes. You're forgiven--know that! We live. We learn. We do better.
-
I believe Oprah stated “When you know better, you do better”.
-
That is actually a Maya Angelou quote.

Thanks Theodora.

It's upsetting to see so many white women saying "no problem."
-
Well, how many POC are supporting nasty, degrading rap songs demeaning women? I hear it all the time in cars blairing at stop signals.
-
I never understand comments that say "but how about...?" -- that's another conversation. Besides, it has nothing to do with what I said.
-
Right? Its a deflection because that person cannot defend their position or doesn't have any knowledge/facts on thw subject at hand.
-
Comparison, not deflection. Understanding each other is the key. You understanding what is in my head, and me understanding whts in yours.
