Picked up this book on a market stall and some old guy next to me started on about how he was in the PCI until the 1970s when Berlinguer announced he felt safer in the Western bloc, how he knew Secchia and Togliatti personally, how great Stalin was. Not a bad start to a Saturday

Supermarket king David Sainsbury - a minister under Blair, and previously main backer of hard right Labour faction Progress - gave £8m to the Lib Dems at the last election. That's more than Unite, GMB, Unison and CWU put together gave Labour. It's called class politics.

#1 reason I can't support Keir: Not only was he the architect of a disastrous Brexit policy, he announced Labour's support for remain at 2018 conference (live on TV) without consulting with anybody else. Not the leader's office, but more importantly the MEMBERSHIP.

The Guardian's diplomatic editor found it "truly startling" that Jeremy Corbyn didn't give his unconditional support to the right-wing coup in Bolivia. Remember, when sensible pundits talk about Corbyn's "problematic views" and "dodgy associates", that's what they have in mind.

Labour-run Welsh government spent £95k attending an arms fair, despite the Party criticising arms sales to repressive regimes. Labour might be out of power in Westminster, but it has power at many regional and local levels - why spend money on this stuff?

Prior to actually flooding for a 50 year project, the Turkish state moved what it considers to be "more valuable" bits of the 12,000yr old settlement site. Watch these Kurdish women mourn their history to understand Turkish colonialism. It is ecocide, genocide, trauma.

Honestly the only thing keeping me positive right now seeing those polls is thinking about how RLB won’t have to go through the horrendous press attacks she’d be subjected to if she won. No one deserves that and she seems too nice for it

Italian PM Giuseppe Conte stopped flights to/from China at the end of January, Matteo Salvini blamed coronavirus outbreak on migrant boats disembarking at Italian ports Now Conte says its "unfair" that other countries want to limit entrance for those coming from Italy...

Labour must be a socialist internationalist party. I’ll be voting for leader, for deputy.
