If you're making a claim to doing justice work- particularly climate justice- I encourage you to articulate where the justice is. Lots of folks doing important climate work thats called justice when it isnt & that risks further marginalizing those who need representation the most

In Canada, jurisprudence increasingly recognizes the rights of Indigenous Peoples. Consequently, governance of forests, lands and waters has shifted from federal or provincial governments toward collaborative governance involving Indigenous communities.

Oh my god. A perfect representation of Angela Davis’s critique of “diversity”: “Diversity” is a corporate marketing strategy that doesn’t change underlying racism, classism, misogyny, etc. It’s not liberation

According to isn’t a silver bullet to tackle but part of the “all of the above” strategy to get to net zero including renewables, energy efficiency, natural solutions and others.

Looking forward to discussing relevant CA policy driving CCS/CDR discussions, land use considerations for these technologies, and challenges and opportunities to achieve climate and energy goals.

Australia had the confidence to incorporate a risk of reversal buffer fee of only 5% in their Carbon Farming Initiative. This year, wildfires made up half of the country's emissions. Policy needs to adequately reflect and manage the permanence challenges of natural solutions.

I am highly skeptical that VC’s are going to learn how to value is created in climate tech. Remember they have to actually help the companies achieve exits which requires an understanding of project finance

I’ve been unimpressed by VC in the cli space. My vision perhaps too narrow, & innovation work needed in energy space at least not suitable to $ amounts & time horizons required by Silicon Valley money. Sure, IOT blah blah blah but tinkering around margins. Oh, Blockchain!

Too often male grad students are framed as: brilliant, deep thinkers, asking important questions, dedicated. Women and POC: Ok, but struggling in certain areas, room for improvement, not dedicated. This is inaccurate and a pervasive flaw in the system.

Yes, I get the basic need for NETs, also covered in my book. My ask is that authors make explicit their assumptions on the scope and nature of residual emissions, or link to refs / SI, rather than saying "X is the number we'll need", b/c ppl need to evaluate how X is arrived at.

Can California actually go carbon neutral with the tools we have today? & took a crack at the question and determined the answer is .... 🥁 .... yes.

Truly landmark report from equipping with a roadmap for the state to lead on carbon removal. There is plenty to comment on (more from and on that) but what's sticking with me... (Thread 👇)
