Here it is all plinthed up. Was here until 1896. It eventually was stuck in what's now as well as Central Station. I love the last photo -standing in front of the statue of the man who invented her.

A rare shot here which I don’t recall ever seeing before.
This is one of Stephenson’s earliest locomotives, probably Killingworth Billy, at West Moor pit, Killingworth before it was put on display on the High Level Bridge. This would date the photo before 1881 if it is Billy.

A #Roman glass bottle, in translucent blue, green & white glass encasing gold leaf, probably once used to hold scented oils or perfumes. It is about 2000 years old, but looks absolutely gorgeous, & apart from a few internal cracks, as good as new! (📷 NY Met Museum) #Archaeology

Introducing... the Penguin Book Vending Machine!
In 1935, Sir Allen Lane was inspired to create Penguin Books when he couldn't find a good book to read at Exeter St. David's train station.
We've gone back to our roots to ensure modern day commuters won't face the same problem.
