My lightning node crushed, all my channels are gone. I think I lost every cent I received with it. Good that nearly nobody used it. Now I'm back to having zero liquidity, unable to receive payments ...

Will bookmark your article, thank you. I do recall reading once on Reddit about how someone attempted to recover a Lightning node through a backup, but because it stored old channel states, the client deemed it fraud and was fined.

I wish Lightning backups were as easy as remembering a mnemonic phrase. Unfortunately, you can't restore channels and their states from a mnemonic phrase at the moment, but only wallet funds.

I really wish “they” had taken more time to simplify backups. The Lightning implementations have lots of serious issues. It’s a shame really, because the tech is super promising. I honestly don’t understand why they released it on Mainnet so early.

And in my experience the devs are too busy to engage with the community. Perhaps not surprisingly given the amount of work that needs to be done. I wish they hired a tech community person. That would have been a great gesture to their early adopters.

I’m pretty sure I even suggested that to the ll at some point. Obviously I never heard back :) on the plus side: because i was forced to figure these things out myself and spend a huge amount of time on Lightning, I did learn a ton.

Sometimes it feels as Lightning is developed by engineers for engineers.
-
Because you pretty much have to be an engineer to use and understand it.

Most for and by engineers project have some form of consistency that’s lacking here. Lightning seems like a patchwork, where the inventor dropped the project halfway when he couldn’t figure out how to make it work, and a new team had to take over.
