Among elites at least it’s the Remainers that have become radicalised. Nobody would have said “I love the EU” pre-June 2016. Now they hold vigils.

That’s the problem. We didn’t appreciate what we had. We took it for granted and didn’t heed the warning signs of populism. Media EU bashing should have been challenged. Complacency.
@euromove was just an old boys club. Unless one’s job had an EU angle, our knowledge was sketchy.

To be fair, the realisation that I have more in common with colleagues across Europe, and even in NY and Tokyo than I do with small town Brits has been a sobering one over the last 5 years - and it’s not just about Brexit.

I’d be a little bit wary of judging the mood of a nation based on the contents of social media and the antics of a few pissed people having a knees up. Most people don’t care that much..
