Lots of talk about an ‘Australia’ arrangement if Canada style deal doesn’t work. To be clear Oz doesn’t have FTA with EU. Two sides launched negotiations for trade deal in 2018. Australia = euphemism for No Deal in which UK reverts to WTO rules

Going for the Canada (closest) to Australia (WTO rules - while hoping to negotiate a comprehensive trade deal in future) spectrum is backing away from earlier discussion of Canada+ and Canada++ and +++

... It’s denied that this is an actual contingency plan though in the official Nissan quote, which has the rather alarming quote that WTO tariffs would make Nissan’s “entire business” both in UK and Europe “not sustainable”...

Have seen this result about a dozen+ times now over the last year or two. Beyond its use to challenge remain self-perceptions (or as a bit of a political 'gotcha') I'm not sure I've yet seen anybody dig into illuminating some key potential explanations ...

The good news: Nissan will put out of the EU and increase production in the UK under a no trade deal Brexit, reporting. The bad news: That’s because we’ll be driving Nissans rather than BMWs and Renaults.

Labour or not, this is a very good speech - marking out the territory of a more serious politics than the current clown show. H/t

    - Is Michel Barnier wrong when he says there will be checks if the UK chooses to diverge from rules? Dominic Raab - Yes. 🤔

Post Brexit Britain sees continuing rise of ideological academics pushing right wing propaganda disguised as research. And there is patiently calling them out with facts. An old fashioned approach, a minority sport these days. Raise a cheer anyway.

“Remainers are more intolerant” is the headline. But the data is far more nuanced here: Remainers are intolerant of intolerance, people who favour limiting their freedoms/rights, and people who deny scientific evidence.

Sure enough, Leavers are contacting the Farage Show on LBC saying Blair is trying to corrupt Brexit.

This is regularly noted but why is it the case? (Answering is a potential minefield...)

This is good/positive. Just a shame that the word 're-join' was even mentioned, not least because it'll trigger every Leaver and so reduce the value of the article.

I suspect this now breaks down into three: Rejoiners, Pragmatists, Populists. The term 'Populists' is currently synonymous with the Govt and its supporters.

They will carry on campaigning in one breath and calling for reconciliation in the next. Rinse/repeat until voters call a halt.
