I can't think of anything that comes close to the feeling of creating something, testing it, and realizing it's awesome.

  2. Your apathy is hurting us. Your callous disregard, is killing us. If black lives matter - prove it.

  3. And you know what? If you read this thread, sit with it. Don't respond with platitudes. I don't even need likes. Retweet if you must, but most importantly, take it to heart. We are hurting. Black people as a global family are hurting. You are hurting us.

  4. It's the same mentality that allows white people today to expect black people to forego the pursuit of their own interests, all to satisfy the fleeting whims of a broader community that won't even acknowledge the reality of their pain.

  5. This is the same mentality that allowed Britain to repay slave owners for the loss of the people they enslaved and treated worse than sheep and cattle.i

  6. Do you see the resemblance? Pete Buttigieg has shown a staggering level of disdain, at best, apathy, toward the black community. Late-stage, for-the-cameras, outreach within in a political campaign, is not genuinely caring.

  7. He acted as though, in spite of our condition, we would've been not just happy, not just feeling welcome, or like we belong, but "proud". *PROUD*. Proud.

  8. Now let's rewind. The white historian, in light of the reality of the situation, still ignored that reality to claim that "Barbadians of colour" (his words) would be "proud" of the very land on which they were enslaved. Just thinking about it makes me sick.

  9. The black historian's response was relatively brief: "I disagree with that sentiment," she said. She went on to say, in essence, that this view is nonsense, seeing as enslaved Africans had no political power whatsoever, and thus no say. They were property, as she pointed out.

  11. He also claimed that as a numerical minority, the white planter class could not do as they wanted, despite holding *complete* political power. He said that as the numerical majority, black Barbadians (enslaved Africans) would've prevented it.

  12. The white historian claimed that (in his opinion), if you had asked enslaved black people back then if they saw themselves as Africans or Barbadians, they would feel a strong connection to this land, and call themselves proud Barbadians even back then.

  13. Last night I was watching a powerful documentary about my nation's history (🇧🇧). At one point, the discussion of political power during the days of slavery came up. Two historians gave their views. One white, one black. Here's how it went, in summary:

  17. This is still bothering me. If you've gotten as far as considering marriage, wouldn't you already know this person's past wrt to this? Wouldn't you have already reached a place of comfort with them enough that you feel compelled to marry them? This take is so, so bad.

I did this. I ordered a nice handsome man named, Brad. Unfortunately, a neighbor stole Brad from my porch and when I called for a replacement, they were out of stock. Long story short, they’re getting married in June. I’m getting them a blender that I ordered....on Amazon.
