A huge advantage for entrenched companies, but it totally ices out startups trying to get in front of people which stifles innovation.

This is what's at stake and that's why we have to save net neutrality.

We do have net neutrality laws (the ones imposed by the EU) but MEO in particular just doesn't care
-
Also those packages mean that those apps' data don't count to the data usage, not that the rest are throttled, still bad though
-
and that only happens to mobile data
-
This is a dangerous first step/test. If users accept this, then why not try somewhing even more restrictive.
-
agreed
-
Thanks for the clarification. Super sneaky stuff. With no net neutrality, this could very well become the standard for all data (4G & cable)
-
In Spain happens the same with Vodafone (and also only happens with mobile data)pic.twitter.com/N7ABLxw2Qp

UK not hugely on this track (yet, I don't expect net neutrality post-Brexit) but also have some carrier-specific tie-ups with data exemption

Uh... That's not true. We have net neutrality, that's for phone services.
-
What it means, by the way, is you don't pay for extra services if you go with those packages. It's not related to the Internet.
-
Internet is still unlimited, fast and affordable.
-
I mean, I'm all for net neutrality but use the fucking correct image when explaining things. This is blatant spread of misinformation.
-
And by "you don't pay for those services" I mean they won't count towards data usage.
-
@Totalbiscuit you of all people should be more informed about this. You just RTd misinformation. -
This is what it looks like. No packages to see here.pic.twitter.com/WQ9f94DLiw

If you're worried about Net Neutrality, you need to know that it'll be much, MUCH worse after they revoke it.
