"moderation" and "balance" aren't all they're cracked up to be. i don't know anyone successful who isn't obsessed w/ something in particular

"moderation" is a lie told by consumer society to keep ppl from going hard in a specific direction & getting too innovative or influential

"work/life balance" is a lie told by companies to keep ppl from realizing 1) they can rise through the ranks, or, 2) working for them sucks

CEOs and executives and highly paid employees all live and breathe their jobs. they def don't have the work/life balance that HR talks about

not that we should all aspire to be CEOs or whatever. but they don't talk about what it takes to get into their positions for a reason

the entire idea of "happiness" as a balanced work/leisure production/consumption equation exists only to keep everybody on the treadmill

happiness is bullshit. the only times i've ever felt truly alive have been periods of total obsession with something. not always "pleasant"

I'm arguably the happiest I've ever been now, and it's due to the fact that I'm doing so many different things in my life. feels refreshing.
