Ariarne Titmus just swam a 8:13.83, which is the fastest 800m swim ever by somebody besides Katie Ledecky! … … … and tied with the 24th-fastest swim of all time with Katie Ledecky’s 24th-best swim

Katie Ledecky set the 800m world record at 16-years old in 2013: 8:13:86. Today, someone finally broke that record: Ariarne Titmus swam 8:13:83. Now, Ledecky has swam faster than that 23 times over the past 8 years. But someone finally caught 16-Year Old Katie!!!

Someone would have to crack 8:13:87 just to get ahead of her. Yet alone anywhere near the record. She’s made it almost impossible to for someone to make the top 25

I'm old enough to remember Janet Evans holding that record for god knows how long Now it's what, 28th best all time

Ledecky is the best ever, but I always wonder how fast Janet Evans would have been in the "fast suits" they wear now. Watching a video at the 88 Olympics, her turnover over that distance still blows me away. She would have loved the 1500.
