Remember “innocent until proven guilty”, “burden of proof”, and “reasonable doubt”? God, those were inspiring ideals that this country once believed in.

Those are ideals Democrats only believe in for other Democrats.

How does this sentence work in a world where Dems forcefully and swiftly purged Al Franken due to less serious allegations? Remember almost every official with an (R) hemmed and hawed or stayed silent about Roy Moore and your RNC Finance chair Eliot Brody paying for an abortion.

I was 17 years old 4 years ago. I think people at that age know if its right or wrong to sexually assault a woman. As someone who could pull the “loutish young boy” card I can offically say it’s absolute BS to use young age to excuse predatory behavior.

‘Loutish’ is getting rowdy, maybe pushing your friends down the street in a ‘borrowed’ supermarket trolley. Attempting to rape a girl is not loutish. It’s a sex crime. At any age.

Agreed. If you follow the logic of @roddreher, you could say that any 17 year old drunk male shouldn't ever really be held accountable for an attempted rape. Terrible road to go down. Immoral, wrong, and dangerous thinking.

I was known to tip a few when I was 17. Never once did I try to rape anyone. And sure as shit, I’m here to own up to everything I did as a 17yo 33 years later because those behaviors still helped form who I am today. We can’t just whitewash it away as “misguided youth.”

“Whitewash” is the operative word. If Kavanaugh was “Demetrius Brown,” even a hint of youthful indiscretion like this would be disqualifying. Again, white privilege is about getting the benefit of the doubt in ALL ASPECTS of life—whether you deserve it is inconsequential...

I read a article in the Washington post over the summer where Clarence Thomas was brought again, it was said he threatened & silence those women who had been sexually harassed by him I believe he got away with it.
