The reason game publishers have adopted these trends is to supplement the cost of making a modern triple A game. I don’t like it same as you, but games have always been $60 even though the industry has grown and grown. Either the price goes up or we’re stuck with what we got

Or they could stop spending hundred a hundred million making a game, then another hundred million marketing it because they've bet the whole company on releasing 2 huge titles this year, and instead just make good games.
-
I think you’re a bit confused on how publishing a game works. A lot of the work comes from the graphics department and rendering the game in a high frame rate. Games back in the day such as KOTOR or Halo 1 had relatively simply graphics which made the process quicker and cheaper
-
No, I'm really not in the least bit confused. If you choose to spend $100M "rendering the game in a high frame rate" then that's your decision to make, and it's my decision not to buy it, because I'd rather the game was good and not just flashy.
-
...an innovative lighting system and amazing graphics. A good game can have both good graphics and a good story/gameplay. However, good graphics don’t equal a good, I have never stated this, I’m just trying to explain how the bar has been risen yet the $60 price stays the same
-
Im saying if the price of the bar being so high is broken games with day 1 DLC and microtransactions then the bar needs to fall. Heres some numbers for you BTW http://archive.fo/EKPeG $140M for Destiny $100M for Disney infinity $200M for MW2 and these are all years old.
-
...it only came after a huge backlash from fans. I think game devs and publishers are finally getting the message; we can only hope. Cheers to a new year friend

I'm about to start the drinking so I suppose we should agree to disagree and enjoy the festivities.

Since twitter fails to add “edit” for tweets. Let me try again. SEGA does shitty things to their fans & rather work with liars & girls who gossip, bully & manipulate their fans IF she is profitable, popular & has a pretty face.
-
Im not up to speed on SEGA drama, is there an executive summary?
-
I am a brain tumor survivor & wanted to share my story with the company Who’s games helped me during recovery. Some of the more popular fans didn’t like me getting noticed by them. So they began causing me trouble, making up stories, sending me threats.pic.twitter.com/myvSDp2mw6
-
Then I got this email from 1 of their clients who investigated the situation more.
-
That sounds pretty shitty, you'd think marketing would have been all over an opportunity like that. You tried getting any of the "game industry shit show of the day" youtubers to pick it up?
-
That’s the problem most of the sonic fan them hates me. Because if one popular fan doesn’t like me, the others don’t like me.
-
I didn't realize the Sonic fanbase was that bitchey. If I'm being honest I basically clocked out after Sonic 3 because I'm old, and sega managed to spend a decade fucking about.
-
It’s a very toxic fandom. I have to admit that. They love drama but they don’t want to be called out on their drama. I learned the true Sega died long ago. If you are popular on Twitter or YouTube then you’re gold. If youre a nobody then you’re trash

I mean if everyone stops giving them money then the games wont be made at all amd 1000s will lose jobs.Dont get this mentality. Everyone wont shut up about the next doom or the next fallout yet everyone also wants to not give them money coz they released something they disapprove
-
I don't want to say "I don't care" but the industry has gotten itself / been allowed to get to the point where it's betting the farm on 1-2 $200M games every year and feels it's entitled to milk them for all it's worth. The industry need to change, we need more smaller games.
-
yeah theres no doubt an over saturation issue with companies. Theres also a wide variety of different players these days. These guys make Alot of money so the interest is there. I wouldnt wanna damn someone's fave title just coz i was disenfranchised
-
I don't want to see games disappear, but I think you're more likely to loose something because EA et al decided to spend $500 million on hollywood mo-cap and lost a bunch of money because nobody cared. Just like Disney and star wars, 40 year old franchise, milked it dry in 3
