Printf is a debugger right?
-
Sure, that's in my "not using an interactive debugger" category. It sucks. Pernosco gives you omniscient on-the-fly printf debugging, for those people who just can't let go.https://pernos.co/about/expressions/ …

Certainly not in the near term. Given enough time and money, sure.

torn between "I appreciate this work existing so much I'll retweet your bait" and "I use debuggers mostly with hardware over JTAG, which will never support rr, and doesn't even get close with multi-thousand dollars probes people have to buy to make realtime tracing viable"

Still parsing some of the posts, I think WinDbg's TTD has similar functionality in the ability to query across the entirety of a trace to easily find function calls, memory reads/writes/executes, or exceptions -https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/debugger/time-travel-debugging-object-model …
-
Yes, there's definitely some overlap between TTD and Pernosco, although obviously also some pretty major differences.
