Rev. Rob Lee’s Tweets

As National Nurses’ Week begins today I’d like to give a special shoutout to my Mom, Dr. Sherrie Lee, RN-BC, DNP. Her fortitude, leadership, and passion for nursing are beyond compare. I’m grateful for all the nurses out there doing the hard work of caring for people.

Saw Dr. Hoyle in this just now momentarily on the BBC—I would hope he skipped coffee hour before the service lest he get an unwanted stain on the cope.

This is the cope that will be worn by our Dean, the Very Reverend Dr David Hoyle, at tomorrow's #Coronation. Made from crimson velvet and decorated with embroidered flowers and stars, the cope was made for the coronation of Charles II in 1661 and is the oldest in our collection.

Join us in #Evanston on Sunday if you can. Sunday morning’s sermon centers around National Foster Care month and my book, Fostering Hope. Then we have an anti-racism workshop following worship. Thanks for the invite.

Filling my oldest daughter in about the coronation: A: Has mom packed her crown? Dad: What? A: You guys are getting on an airplane to go to the “oronation” I thought. Dad: Oh, no, mom and I are going to Chicago so I can preach and celebrate a friend. A: Mom still needs her crown.

My sincerest prayers are with Archbishop of Canterbury and Archbishop of York as they lead their country in the coronation tomorrow. I’m reminded of the line from St. John’s Gospel “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.” It is my prayer Jesus will be visible.

As May 4th sets into history, I'm reminded I love both Trek and Wars and I'm better off for it.

I would welcome her wise counsel and guidance now. A brilliant person gone this day, four years ago. One thing I appreciated about Rachel was despite our disparate and sometimes warring faith upbringings and thought processes, I was always met with encouragement and friendship.

Lambeth Palace is directed by the King to alter prayers from “Camilla the Queen Consort” to “Queen Camilla” effective May 6th. Oh, to be the National Liturgical Advisor…

The Golden Girls episode where INS agents takes Mario Lopez’s character into custody breaks my heart every time. This show dealt with such incredibly important issues of the day and beyond.

I’m in a strawberry field with my 4 y/o on her field trip. For all you people so concerned with where you go when you/others go when y’all die, my fervent prayer is that you find a strawberry field in rural NC that teaches you paradise can be here and now, and just as beautiful.

At least I have often acknowledged the political nature of the pulpit. To be clear I’m not suggesting endorsing candidates, but what we do is inherently of a political nature. If we’re going to do this, at least play fair.

Sometimes I watch worship services of evangelical churches with whom I ardently disagree. It’s astounding to me that they feign outrage at my preaching they deem political, when they are full-bore working to legislate over the bodies and lives of women and queer folk.
