I'm not seeking pity. I honestly don't normally care, and if boardgame publishers just gave a little more thought to accessibility issues, I would probably never care. But that moment when you realise you've wasted 2 turns acquiring the wrong colour piece is infuriating. 2/3

This week I got Continental Divide, opened it, saw all the cubes and realised I can't ever play it. I'm more than a little salty about that. Same for Yamatai, Pagoda, Village, Takenoko, Race/Roll for the Galaxy, Scoville... 3/3

I've regularly board-gamed with visually impaired people and this is definitely an issue. Are you aware that you can purchase shaped game pieces as separate components?
-
Yeah, I often substitute pieces if it's in terms of cubes or meeples. But with printed materials, there's no fix the end user can do short of writing on the components.

Yeah, my game has 2 important different sets of colors, one for player colors and then resource colors. Not sure how to address that yet, but don't want to frustrate the players the way you described. Thanks for sharing.

I have a game where thematically it is very important that the pieces be brown, yellow, and red. I’ve used filters to make sure that the dark red, medium brown, and light yellow are discernible, but IDK if it’ll work for a real person... would that work for you?

The only way to know is to share a picture. But they sound fairly safe!!

Cards in our game have background colours but we made sure to also add icons to make it friendly to colour blind folks. It's part of our design process to think of this now.
