The last time this happened, not only did some incredible shows get lost in the fallout, it did long-term damage to Black scripted series, which were already an endangered species, especially - we never got a final season of Girlfriends bc of the strike...

There are many wild things here folks may not fully understand but the wildest might be the AMPTP “Countered by offering meetings to educate creative executives and producers about screenwriters’ free work concerns” in response to the WGA proposing we be PAID FOR OUR WORK.

Let it be know that the #wga proposed: "Regulate use of artificial intelligence on MBA- covered projects: AI can’t write or rewrite literary material; can’t be used as source material; and MBA-covered material can’t be used to train AI." and the studios rejected the proposal.

This is why we’re striking. The studios are trying to turn writing into a gig job. Eliminating the writers room, forcing screenwriters to work for free, paying late night writers a “day rate.” If we don’t fight back, writing will cease to exist as a livable career.
