    it's like final fantasy, they're all separate games but there's some recurring elements like a big airship and a turn-based battle system where each side queues up commands

    One of the things I wanna try this year is dropping games I don’t enjoy more ruthlessly. So you’ll probably see a lot more tweets about games I found interesting enough to spend a few hours on but not enough to try and drag myself to any kind of ending.

    When you put related code together, you get to *choose* the order that people read the code, and you can optimize it for understanding. One Class Per File is ceding this order to what is effectively randomness, instead of Thoughtfulness

    Historically, a lot of game UIs were implemented using Adobe Flash (Scaleform GFx). Then Flash got deprecated so I guess we just tack on a whole ass browser now.

    I've been trying to figure out why the main menu performance on Warcraft 3 Reforged is so bad. It ends up the whole main menu is a web app running on Chrome. This thing runs worse than the actual game (likely because it's pegging an entire core of my CPU.)

    Yet another tech grift that purports to do something lofty and meaningful ("screen for toxic behavior") and surprise, they grep your tweets and favs for words like "vodka". Look at how fancy their website is though! Bet they got millions in VC funding.

    I had to get a background check for my job, and it turns out the report is a 300+ page pdf of every single tweet I’ve ever liked with the work “fuck” in it. Enjoy your dystopian bs! *waves*

    Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age My first Dragon Quest. I’m used to grinding through JRPG, but couldn’t drag myself through this one. Not into the silent protagonist thing and the writing and combat are not interesting enough to carry the game for me either.
