As I describe in ageofem.com, they'd download into different bodies as needed for different physical tasks, but spend most of their time in virtual reality, where bodies could be changed even more often. The main function they'd stay tied to is: understandability.
An interesting question about Ems...can they change what they are attracted to. Because, if so, this just breaks the barn door open. Lots of limitations are selection limitations that the individual finds inconvenient. Without them, it's the Wild West O(x)

Through cultural evolution, humans have long collectively changed what we are attracted to in large ways. That sort of change would continue.
