I'd probably say something along the lines of "some people believe X, some other believe Y, nobody can know for sure". Unless you do know for sure what happens after death?

I would really like you to justify this. Do we know with some reasonable confidence, presuming a common-sense world? Sure. But that's not "knowing for sure."

We are talking about how to talk to children here. By the usual standard where we' tell a kid something is sure, we are that sure about this.

"We do know for sure." This world could be a simulation / game, and death could be the end of a round of the simulation. We certainly don't understand consciousness in terms of physical processes at all.

On a physical level yes, but that's not the point. The point is that the metaphysical idea that we might be "pulled out of the simulation" or whatever can be good for emotional welfare at that stage of child development.

We live on after death, in a sense. All we are is information. We live on in the minds of others as memories and ideas, and more tangibly through genetic information (providing we've had kids). I'd say this perspective is technically true
