one nuance that this take misses imo is the concept of the public/private sphere. the private sphere is very useful for workshopping reaction, esp if you care about not engendering public offense

further, there’s a thread in here of continued entrenchment wrt the innocence of the original inquiry, even in the face of the blowback it has received in the public sphere that tenders this argument pretty insincere on the face of it

the problem with this question is that this isn’t actually a hypothetical — it happens. in reality, men tend not to take no very gracefully so in practice even proposing the arrangement is incredibly problematic — as a woman you wouldnt want to even be offered such a bargain
