Yep. Took me one afternoon on a bookshop reading China books to conclude that and ignore all further China-scare claims.

http://scholars-stage.blogspot.com/2016/06/china-does-not-want-your-rules-based.html … > The truth is that the Chinese have already chosen their path...They do not want our rules based order...They will continue to reject it unless compelled by overwhelming crisis

> American policy is a holding action until the Chinese "see the light" But China won't, so American policy has been flawed; that's the point people are making. China makes 2x the CO2 as the USA, Chinese pollution is reaching across the ocean to California, fentanyl, etc etc.

People are just starting to notice influence of China on Au/Nz/etc politics, and the paid shills https://twitter.com/Scholars_Stage/status/1061169742579294210 … - but moving towards a policy of containment of Chinese power looks bad for Jeff Sachs type folks who wanted to "help the poor" and so helped Chinese corps.

I remembered your post about China after bits around "More than half of its R&D spending is stolen.".

> China would end up with a higher PPP GDP than the USA but a lower nominal GDP. That's enough to potentially cause all sorts of problems; IMO the US + western Europe + Japan have been unusually harmless by historical standards considering their overall power.
