Tribal societies are not nearly as competitive. Even now we see examples of highly competitive cultures which I would like to avoid becoming the norm. Different groups of humans have different values due to different environment/selection. Not all values equal, imo.
-
Do all peoples now have the same capacity for development and appreciation of art? If not, why would we expect agents in a vastly different environment to share the same capacity and appreciation as the average human?
-
Of course art is the product of sexual selection pressure. You’re advocating for increased competitiveness in a domain other than sexual selection. When better predators evolve the peacock will not look so pretty.
-
Ems don't reproduce via sex, but they still compete to attract associates to be on their teams. Why isn't that enough to satisfy you?
-
Because it's not selecting for the same values. There is competition among genes and corporations, but I don't wish to be either of these things, and I don't believe these competitive domains will produce the same values as whatever selective forces made us human.

And now we are back to square one.https://twitter.com/robinhanson/status/1051214407202742273 …
