    I don't think I'll be visiting Portland anytime soon.https://www.wsj.com/articles/a-leftist-mob-polices-portland-1539298766 …

Sad to see such a smart person falling for this nonsense. There is no "leftist mob" policing Portland. I don't follow you to hear the talking points from either side.

The headline is. An unruly protest with a few people yelling stupid and potentially threatening stuff != Portland descending into 1917 St. Petersburg

I've seen some videos, yes. I notice you're not disputing that the headline is false and is the latest GOP talking point.

How about the video? And the officer looking and doing nothing? No thanks.

If there was a video with the WSJ article, I couldn't see it. I have seen some videos of nuts on both sides beating the crap out of people while the cops did nothing. Keep in mind cops have training with how to react or not to react when they're severely outnumbered.

🙄Was there last weekend. It's fine. If "police ignore problems" stops you from visiting a city, you won't be going anywhere.

There's different levels of ignoring, one could argue.

I agree. Considering that nobody was hurt or killed, and nothing appears to have been damaged, this seems very low priority to me. The author also has a clear bias. That it might stop someone from visiting a city is laughable.

Really? Charlottesville, Baltimore, riots after MLK death, every lynching ever? I think these things have been with us for a long time but are just less so now.

Not talking about riots. Talking about a mob that claims "civil authority" over a larger group in the absence of elected/recognized legal authority. There ARE other examples, but we call it state sponsored terror.

I get your point. I mainly wanted you to acknowledge that past examples existed so we are not in some territory that never occurred, and you did that so we are cool.

Same could be said viewing Charlottesville alt right folks. Robin, you are a little too fast on draw with your ill-considered snipes. Try counting to ten before posting :) Also, you woudn’t want to accidentally hint at your right leaning bias. Objectivity!
