    I finally looked at report of randomized trial showing a mortality benefit of health insurance. They BARELY find 5% significance, which is a bad sign given this is highly desired result to see, in a world where unacknowledged selection effects are common

    Shape of US male cancer death rate time trend is odd: straight line up, then straight line down. Explanations of this trend should account for that odd shape. Alas, media coverage offers many theories, but ignores that they don't explain this shape.

    Rewatching Wire S1 E12, reminded I love music at end, looked it up, saw the musician looked familiar, looked him up, & saw he acted as one of my favorite characters from Treme.

    Total US employment '48-'19. This just doesn't look like symmetric fluctuations around equilibrium. More like an engine that moves at same steady speed except when hit by periodic breakdowns of varying size.

  13. OH SHIT! I missed this when it out a year ago, but pointed me to this key result: Per capita US drug deaths have steadily doubled every decade 4 times in a row, R^2=0.99! Even as particular drug death rates far from steady.
