    I finally looked at report of randomized trial showing a mortality benefit of health insurance. They BARELY find 5% significance, which is a bad sign given this is highly desired result to see, in a world where unacknowledged selection effects are common

    Shape of US male cancer death rate time trend is odd: straight line up, then straight line down. Explanations of this trend should account for that odd shape. Alas, media coverage offers many theories, but ignores that they don't explain this shape.

    Gngram & trends say irony & related concepts go through cycle, peaking ~1881,1901,1927,1967,1991,2015, for periods of 20,26,40,24,24. Clearly, big wars interrupt the ironic cycle.
