    in 1986, the Challenger (STS-51L) crew perished when the vehicle exploded shortly after liftoff. We will never forget the brave crew or the lessons we learned at such a high cost.

    Coming from engineering and physics I never actually had to study the Krebs cycle, so this is a great thread to catch up. The following comments have interesting points about mutations in the metabolic pathways of cancer as well.

    As someone who teaches the Krebs cycle to first year medical students, I have necessarily become a Krebs apologist. The problem with typical teaching of the cycle is that the steps are emphasized over context. Here is a simple way to think about it:

    Ha no, my father merely challenges you to face your own invasive flora problems. Having said that, there is nothing like being retired to push projects like this. It's not remotely easy for those of us that aren't retired. But the amazing thing is he's still doing it at 88.

    Reflecting further on the last Saturday... it was indeed a grand evening and so humbling to be in the midst of people who gave so freely to support our fight against cancer. Thank you so much! Proud, and very grateful, to work and live in this community.

    Googling thickness of cigarette paper (~50um) as it was an old machine shop gauge. I found, "It is about as thin as any paper could be made and still hold together. I used to 'roll my own' in my early teens. I'm 84 now." Perfect and with that I'm going home to have a scotch.

    I have come to take for granted that, working with Marco, I can run an engineering technology development group in a Canadian genome center. But it is actually amazing we can do this, and a testament to the brilliance and vision of Congratulations on this award!

    This very much represents my thoughts at this time.

    Congratulations to the recipients of the Nobel Prize in Physics, they all did terrific work and I know it must mean a lot to them. But personally I can’t take it seriously, knowing the committee did everything it could to avoid awarding Vera Rubin only because she was a woman.
