    During visit to the US, Norway announced an initiative to seek enhance coordination of allied activities in the High North. While Norway welcomes such presence, it also clearly feels the need to have some influence over where, when and how.

    The Arctic FONOP suggested today is a common, but bad, idea. Folks like and David Auerswald have shown why from political and operational angles. In my chapter in out Friday, I show why it makes little legal sense either

    Heritage Foundation speaker just recommended an Arctic FONOP at the Subcommittee hearing on Arctic climate security. This is not a good idea, so I'm glad 's chapter on this exact topic will come out later this week to spell it out in more detail.

    That's an important project, filling a key capability gap. Interesting to note that there's also a project around a medium-size tactical cargo aircraft (FMTC). A recognition by Europeans that future operations while require more airlift the they have?

    Five countries (🇩🇪🇨🇿🇫🇷🇳🇱🇸🇮) will work together to fill a critical capability gap: strategic air transport for outsized cargo. An excellent example of what Europeans should do: develop together key enablers for future joint operations.

    Tout a été tenté notamment par Pres. pour ouvrir un dialogue avec la Russie. Rien n’en est sorti alors que des compromis étaient envisageables. It takes two to tango. La Russie n’a jamais manifesté le moindre intérêt à améliorer ses relations avec les Européens.

    La gêne d'une partie de la droite, qui renverse la charge de la responsabilité sur l'Europe qui n'aurait pas su nouer les relations qu'il convient avec le Kremlin. Ce serait comique si la situation n'était pas aussi grave. C'est surtout irresponsable.
