Wrong the current system doesn't charge for at home care

It does - though it excludes the home from asset calculation. Surely this is fairer? Why should I inherit £100k house but not £100k savings

Because it could be your family home where you live with your mum

I'm 50 - I left home a while ago - as did the vast majority of people whose parents would be affected by this

Plus I disagree with privatisation of the NHS.

But again the principles here are not new - social care (which inc care for those with dementia) has always stood outside NHS
