I tweeted about my daughter’s first day of virtual kindergarten back in September. Last week I got a phone call from a producer at NBC about a story. I was happy to get to share our perspective even if the actual story is quite sad.https://www.nbcnews.com/nightly-news/video/how-the-pandemic-is-impacting-kids-mental-health-96028229519 …

It was *surreal* interacting with a camera crew in the era of COVID-19. They set up lighting and microphones in my garage and shot from outside. Here they are recording B-roll of our kids playing…from outside the house!pic.twitter.com/9IeZ8jEcv7

It wasn’t my role in the story but I think often about how we’re financially stable, have a comfortable home, plenty of food, good internet access…and school is still hard for our daughter. As you take those away—which is what many people are facing—it’s so much harder.

When Samantha was doing the interview with me, we were on a zoom with Cynthia McFadden and Sam interrupted to ask “Why are their cameras turned off?” The producers were also on the call and she noticed the blank squares! (They graciously turned on to say hello.)

This shot of Allison and Lucy standing in front of their nursery school didn’t make the final cut but you deserve to see it anyway because they’re adorable. (The jackets were an early Christmas gift from friends who guessed how unprepared we are for the NJ winter.)pic.twitter.com/sGVKAaKBWu
