We don’t talk enough about the immense damage the Trump administration has done to indigenous lands out west. This has been a giveaway of beautiful and sacred places to the worst elements of our country, extraction industries desperate to squeeze the last cash out of oil

We don’t talk much about the Bureau of Land Management, or even the Department of the Interior, its administrator. The DOI and the BLM manage all “public lands” (scare quotes because these lands are not the US’s to govern). They are supposed to protect them from exploitation

The BLM was created by concerned ranchers who knew that ranch land had to be protected from overgrazing, and the only way to do that was to hold the land in common and to administer it such that it was neither mined up nor mowed bare by one person or company

Under Trump, the BLM has been gutted and moved out of DC—essentially losing its seat at the table for the decisions that affect huge swaths of the country. The BLM attracts conservationists and scientists. These are people the administration does not want to hear from

Under Trump, “public lands”, many of which contain sacred sites and all of which are home to vulnerable animals and provide vital ecosystem services, are being sold to the highest bidder. Those used to be mining companies. Now they’re frackershttps://www.commondreams.org/news/2020/02/06/trumps-final-plan-open-treasured-public-lands-utah-called-sellout-big-oil …

We owe it to each other to DEMAND a ban on fracking and to hold accountable the politicians that have turned a blind eye to this atrocity. They are extracting DEAD FUELS that should be BANNED from land that is as sacred as any church, and in many ways more necessary

Don’t really know where I’m going with this, just I’M PISSED and you should be too, and as we talk presidential candidates we should be aware that they have A LOT of power here. Don’t settle for someone without a hardline stance on banning fracking and protecting indigenous land
