P.S. If you are interested in studying visual and attentional dynamics in Boston, I am looking for a postdoc and a full-time RA for my new lab at BU starting this summer. Happy to discuss opportunities to join the lab!

New preprint: Computational model of attentional dynamics. We generalized the normalization model of attention into the time domain to capture attention to points in time. Data and modeling suggest that voluntary attention is a limited resource over <1 s.

New preprint with and ! arXiv: code: (thread) 1. Many models (e.g., in psych and comp neuro) don't have a log-likelihood in closed form, but we can easily sample observations from the model.

I just reviewed Györgi Buzsáki's new book, The Brain from Inside Out, for . The book asks, how do neural signals become meaningful to the brain? Good question! With a stimulating, wide-ranging treatment by Buzsáki.

Our most recent work on “computation-through-dynamics.” We propose that cognitive control can be understood in terms of principles of motor control: 1) control, 2) simulation, and 3) estimation. Many thanks to , CJ Chang, Evan Remington

we have an open postdoc position at Boston University! We use new multimodal approaches (subsecond 7T fMRI, EEG/fMRI, and computational techniques) to study brain physiology and network dynamics underlying sleep, attention, and mood (incl. depression).

Shalev, , and review evidence that performance fluctuates at different time scales, from fractions of seconds to hours, arising from intrinsic brain rhythms, rhythmic stimulation, and anticipation of temporal structure in stimulation.

I want to start a thread: Black men who have PhD’s or who are working on PhD’s drop your discipline, your university, and your research interests. My hope is to build community specifically for black men who are attaining or have attained their PhD.
