Safari Technology Preview 48 was just released. It has lots of improvements, especially to Service Workers. It’s the first STP to carry a Safari version of 11.2. https://webkit.org/blog/8084/release-notes-for-safari-technology-preview-48/ …pic.twitter.com/H2lYooXxcQ

Safari Technology Preview 48 changes how Password AutoFill works. Safari will no longer automatically fill user names and passwords into forms shortly after page load to prevent sharing information without user consent.

iOS 11.3 and macOS 10.13.4 include Service Workers — a powerful specification that allows background scripts to power offline web applications. iOS 11.3 also consults Web App Manifest when adding web apps to the home screen.

Safari 11.1 (including iOS 11.3) lets you replace animated gifs with silent videos (<img src="video.mp4">) for smaller downloads, better decoding performance, and a larger color palette. This post does a great job explaining why this is awesome:https://calendar.perfplanet.com/2017/animated-gif-without-the-gif/ …

Safari 11.1 has CSS font-display, which gives control over how a downloadable font renders before it's been fully downloaded. The "CSS Font Display" section of this blog post by @potch is a great intro to font-display:https://hacks.mozilla.org/2018/01/firefox-58-the-quantum-era-continues/ …

In Safari 11.1, when a user gives a credential or credit card-related field focus on an insecure page, a "Website Not Secure" warning is displayed.

Intelligent Tracking Prevention got smarter in Safari 11.1. And Web Inspector now has Canvas Debugging, an updated Network tab, and a new Styles sidebar design.

iOS 11.3 and Safari 11.1 include an improved Safari Reader content extraction engine. Too many small improvements to name — still my favorite way to read on the web.

OK, I’ll name one improvement to Reader. If you’re reading a blog post whose title links to another page, like on a link blog, Reader’s title will now link to that page, too.pic.twitter.com/XslGbcPCuy

I've saved my favorite iOS 11.3 improvement for last. In iOS 11.3, for the first time, Password AutoFill for Apps works in web views within apps. This will help further reduce the number of times you have to type or copy and paste passwords.
