Funny as it doesn’t work this way at all today at Amazon. I interviewed a candidate who said it took 10 teams collaborating to ship a feature on Amazon.com. Once you get to a certain scale, system and product ownership ends up forcing collaboration.

fascinating, and totally agree. IMO "communication is a defect" may work to a point; after that point, the org's inability to communicate is the defect (and likely much more of a problem)
