“Stay inside, save lives” “Go back to work, save lives” Ugh, it’s all so confusing. I just wanna save lives.

We had a very tough five weeks in New Zealand (and two more not quite as tough) but now we’re back to normal life + reduced density in restaurants + hand sanitizer & signing in to stores. Stats: 1504 total cases, 1456 recovered, 21 deaths, 27 still sick, 3 new cases in 13 days.

That’s in a population just a little less than SFBA (or 1.65x Nevada). Everyone is back at work, kids are back at school, we can travel freely around the country. It may be a less drastic lockdown would have worked just as well, but really hard to know in advance.

I said in early March lockdowns would kill vastly more people than the virus. Incompetent/corrupt govt is the main threat here, not covid

The early research shows outdoors you’re fine, unless a sick person sneezes directly on you (which is why masks might help) The problem is people stuck indoors, even with a mask, for an hour can still lead to transmission

This seems dated. Oregon opened up hospitals, doctors, and dentists for elective procedures weeks ago. Lots of things are open here.

Yeah, even in NYC where the virus was really bad we are opening these kinds of things up. If people aren’t going to the doctor it’s not the lockdown, it’s that they are afraid of going to the doctor now.
