I used to work as a sexual assault crisis counselor, serving the three emergency rooms on the University of Minnesota campus. The most common thing the victim would say to me is, "Don't tell my father."

Years ago, when I was but a wee founder, a VC invited me to chat. I took it literally, showed up ready to chit-chat and woefully unprepared to pitch... which is what "chat" actually means. Risking embarrassment in case this tweet helps someone else not look dumb.

I've noticed that my friends will helpfully offer lots of critical advice when things are going poorly but hold back when things are going well. Really, I actually need the advice more when things are going well to avoid getting off track.

I find it extremely fascinating when one VC decides to aggressively dunk on another. I thought VCs didn't publicly dunk on another bc it harms their ability to get forwarded good deals.

I’m not intimidated or anything, but I literally have never seen someone get triggered that hard on Twitter. I didn't even tag anyone or definitively say anything, but they literally tag a partner at a law firm?

All I said was that K-pop artists might be using Twitter bots to boost their engagement. And someone went and tagged BTS's American law firm? Talk about an overreaction...

I'm thinking about the problem of: - every customer should have 1 owning rep - I want to pay commissions on what reps own - but ultimately anyone with a HUGE deal will need help. can't do it alone - how do i motivate reps w/ small deals to pause and help out the huge deal?

Being able to offer "morally good work" is this decade's free lunch, ping-pong table, 20% time, and nap pod.

I’m looking to pay for a vector illustration. I went a cute little cartoon goat-like creature. I can provide more details via DM.

Every single date I go on in Minnesota: -- HER: what religion are you? ME: Cath- HER: 😟 ME: -o-Luther- HER: ☺️ ME: -an. I am a Lutheran. HER: oh I'm Catholic. This will never work out.

I think the “cult of the founder” is over. Founding CEOs that try to act all-powerful will get mocked by the press and fired by the Board. So once I have a brilliant+charming leadership team, they'll do all of the cool things and I'll fade into the shadows and file paperwork.

"The biggest asset a label can offer is money." Is this going be true in the next 10 years? How much of the job of a record label is going to turn into a services business. How far are they already along that track?

There are basically two ways I elicit information from people: 1. Argue with them to get them to drop more and more knowledge. 2. Stay quiet and attentive when they talk. Don't interrupt a good monologue.

If I start a remote-first company, am I required to tweet about it all the time and project the failure of all the companies that aren't remote-first? Or is that something that y'all just do for fun?

The funny thing about Python is that its popularity means that it doesn't matter that it can be slow. Our collective demand for fast Python means that someone will eventually open-source a C or Cython extension that is lightning-quick for some computation that everyone does.

I'm in multiple groupchats where someone posts a tweet from a VC and the rest of us pontificate if the VC is serious. Now I'm not a VC, but I have the self-awareness that all of my tweets are dumb. It's fun to write them anyway bc I learn so much from hearing everyone's replies.

In Feb 2017 I cofounded a (now-defunct) startup aimed at building an AI-powered Zendesk. I thought I was too late because I saw companies like DigitalGenius and Gladly raise huge amounts of money... ...but really I was too early: GPT-2 (classifiers) were 2 years in the future.

I eventually want to turn my Terraform module into a command-line tool that sends your `docker-compose.yml` + volumes to an EC2 instance that you connect to via an EC2 Client VPN. I want to outsource my dev environment without feeling like I'm doing additional work.

I feel like there should be easier ways to do this, but I wrote a Terraform module to take a `docker-compose.yml` and run it on a new EC2 instance. Maybe Dokku?
