    Many of the stated drivers of higher education costs (facilities, perks etc.) seem the product of misguided "customer-is-always-right" thinking. Institutions that can balance ideals/mission vs "customers" seem strongest, but it's a race to the bottom in a competitive field.

    We will look back to 2018/2019 as a key period of transition when consumer business models shifted writ large to subscriptions from ads/transactions. We’ve had this with Netflix etc for a while but it’s happening now for every emerging consumer product
