This is not true. The reason that western countries rank higher, is because they have a high rate of reporting of rapes. Women feel safe enough to report violence against them, unlike in India, Africa etc. The number of rapes india is probably much, much higher in reality.

Every country has different methods and levels of reporting of crimes, including rape. Countries like India, have a very low incidence of crime reporting, so one cannot compare countries like for like, using official statistics

Well this stats are baseless and untrue i cannot count on my fingers how many rapes happened in india in last 24 hours! Well one more stats says that every 3 min a women is raped in india! Dont spread madeup stats to defend your country !

The way India is battling between tradition and modernity with poverty and bad government machinery as catalysers...it is bound to suffer major rape crimes...it cannot be changed suddenly...only thing a girl can do is to try to remain safe by acting sensibly in an outside place..

Population of India is far more greater than other countries...so per 100,000 is not the right way to compare...you see if e.g. China has 1.8 per 100,000...it will result in more overall number than India...you know what I am saying...
