Let me lay out a marker and say that if the Chief has it, I think he’s more likely to be the sixth vote to rein in partisan gerrymandering than the fifth to kill it. cc: @LeahLitman

If true, it means that Roberts is very conscious about the legacy of his court and will vote to set at least a minimal standard to rein in partisan gerrymandering. I’m skeptical but hope Rick is right.

Genuinely curious to hear your reasoning. Roberts sounded extremely hostile to the efficiency standard proposed by the plaintiffs during oral arguments.
