I mean, just based on the title, that is an incredible bargain. Oral argument prep is expensive. Supreme Court oral argument prep is very expensive.

the article makes much of the fact that the (divided) argument time was only 10 minutes. That really doesn't seem to me to affect how much prep I would put in.

Wait, you don't say to yourself, "Well, that's 1/3 of the time of a typical argument, so I can do 1/3 of the prep!"?
If anything, it might require more prep because you know you'll have fewer opportunities to direct the argument to your important thematic points.1 reply 0 retweets 1 like
and it's a partisan gerrymandering case for goodness sakes. They are complex both factually and legally. Not like someone can give it 10 hours of oral argument prep and wing it.
