I offer some thoughts as to why the Supreme Court #SCOTUS delayed so long in the Pa. gerrymandering case, only to deny without any opinion or dissent: http://electionlawblog.org/?p=98206 #appellatetwitter

A win for
@persily, who helped draw the maps fairly in a toxic political environment.Show this thread

I hate to see news story saying the new map "favors Democrats" It does no such thing. It is just much less skewed in favor of Republicans.
-
They are used to a 50/50 split yeilding 2/3rds of the seats. How they gonna win if they don't cheat . sheesh!
-
and it's not just Pennsylvania ...

The R's did not like the map because it took the fact that under no circumstance could the D's ever win with the way the map was drawn. The R's are use to cheating to favor themselves and this time it did not work.

It only guarantees they themselves would end up drawing the map if one takes as a given that the Pennsylvania GOP would refuse to act in good faith.

Pennsylvania Supreme Court's ruling was 01/22. They gave them until 02/15. Three weeks.

Now I understand why they waited for the district court. “Don’t come running to us, losers.”
-
So when the GOP wins the PASC back they just redraw again. Around and around it goes.
-
i don't think that's the precedent set by the PA supreme court's decision
-
It is now. The Republicans will find a reason to redraw again and would be stupid not too.
-
i've read most of the decisions in this case and i haven't seen any textual support for that
-
They won't need any. It will just be another partisan vote.
