There aren’t substantively neutral principles to use here. Boycott of firms dealing with KKK would be justified - on purely moral grounds.

I get that's the claim, but I still think it's a deplorable tactic that causes real harm when replicated. Should we all boycott firms who deal with groups that have what we see as "morally disualifying goals"?

Yes, but it should be a very high bar, bc of serious risk and cost. Merely advocating for/against gun control, abortion isn’t nearly enough.

What about threatening the eternal damnation of souls? Your argument is precisely the same used to justify relgious intolerance and exclusion. I also don't believe the tactic can be easily confined to "good" causes.

So would you shop at a store that gave special discounts to the KKK or the Nazis? We can’t avoid constituting political bounds.

I agree with you that it’s fraught. But it’s inevitable. And excommunication from polite society is an excellent alternative to violence.
