Actually, this story is strange. Every fact in it was reported at least 8 months ago. And as the @DHSgov rep notes, much has been done since then. The threat is real, and there is more to do, but this story is about 8 months too late.

It all depends on what she means by "exceptionally small number." If it's 1, it's IL. Could be 2, if you count getting AZ logon credentials. More than that would be new.

But AZ wasn’t penetrated. It was confirmed that they shut down access before anyone was able to have unauthorized access to the system. Regardless, there’s zero information that’s new here that didn’t come out in June if not earlier.

And if there were a new state, then this report failed to follow up and find evidence of it. I still have seen no evidence of another state, and no other state has heard of it, to my knowledge.
